FIRST LOOK At Henry Cavill As Geralt In Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’
I’ve been waiting for this moment since the announcement that Netflix was working on adapting the popular book series and video game series The Witcher into a TV series to rival that of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Today we got our first look at Henry Cavill (Man of Steel & Mission Impossible: Fallout) as Geralt of Rivia. The White Wolf. The Butcher of Blaviken.
I’m not sold on this… yet. I’m currently reading Blood of Elves. Part 1 in a 3 part adventure and I’ve also beaten The Witcher video games. My idea of Geralt was always a tough, rough around the edges, no nonsense, but a little nonsense, with a heart of gold. This, so far, looks like what I’d expect to see if The Witcher was coming to The CW. I’m pretty sure that there will be more additions in the likes of coloring his eyebrows, mutated Witcher eyes and a few battle wounds, but at this junction I’m not 100% sold on it. I love Cavill and have no doubt he’ll do a fantastic job as Gearalt, but I feel like they should have held off on this image because it’s only raising more concerns than hype. For me at least.
Also, I’m aware that Geralt doesn’t have a beard and dislikes beards in the books, but that’s not my main issue (although I prefer a beard, but I’m bias)… he looks too clean and pretty and not like a seasoned monster hunter. Even if you’ve only been a Witcher for 2 years, you’re going to have seen and gone through some stuff.
The Witcher releases on Netflix in 2019.
