I’m not the worlds biggest ‘horror’ guy. I like movies that have story behind them and aren’t just jumps scares with intense string instruments to make you jump in your seat. Movies like “The Conjuring”, “IT”, “Deliver us from Evil” are a few of my top movies for that reason. However this might be a movie I have to check out just to see how it goes.
Director Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Solaris, Erin Brockovich) just made a horror movie and the only took he used to film it? And iPhone. He’s not the first director to do this, but he’s definitely the most prolific to do it! But will it be good? Well, here’s the trailer so you can make up your own mind.
I mean, sure, it looks okay. You can tell it’s not the quality a film would normally be, but trailers can make anything look good. The main problem I’m having with this technique going so mainstream is that now we’re going to have every punk with an iPhone 7 suddenly think they’re the next big director. I’m all for creativity and expressing yourself through art, what I’m not all about is people who ‘claim’ their photographers because they post on Instagram or, now, shoot videos for Vevo and put “Film Director” in their bio…
