West Kelowna RCMP and the Kelowna RCMP Street Enforcement Unit are searching for John Michael Aronson of Kelowna. He and another man are wanted in connection with a break and enter and assault on the weekend in the 3000 block of Ensign Way. A woman in the home had to be taken to hospital for treatment.
RCMP are investigating an alleged assault early Tuesday afternoon outside a business in the 1100 block of KLO Road in Kelowna. Police say it was between two kids at a local school and one needed to be treated for injuries to his hand. The other was arrested and then released into the custody of his guardians.
Police have arrested an assault suspect, after a 26 year old man was rushed to hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries. RCMP say they were told he was attacked with a knife early yesterday afternoon inside a home in the 3900 block of Gallagher’s Parkway. The 23 year-old suspect, who is known to police, was arrested without incident.
Kelowna RCMP have identified and arrested the suspected arsonist we told you about yesterday. He was picked up after an employee of a local business recognized the picture RCMP had distributed to the media. He’s identified as a South Okanagan man of no fixed address.
A Vernon man has been acquitted of child pornography charges, due to a technicality. William Munton was facing two charges of making child porn, and one of possessing it. However, BC Supreme Court Justice Hope Hyslop dismissed the case in favour of a defence claim that the search warrants police used to obtain the evidence were invalid. Munton still faces 19 counts of arson in a separate case.
The folks at Boyd Autobody want to thank everyone who made a donation at the Father’s Day car show this year. The final tally is in and they raised over $16,000 which was donated to the Kelowna Firefighters Professional Charitable Society and their Burn Fund.
The wildfires had a big impact on TV and film productions in the Okanagan this summer. Film commissioner Jon Summerland says no one wanted to film in the smoke including episodes of X-Files and Supergirl which chose to go somewhere else. Despite that, he says the 2016-17 film season will have an economic impact of over 23 million dollars, on par with last year.

In a meeting with solicitor general Mike Farnworth at the Union of BC Municipalities convention in Vancouver, West Kelowna discussed its interest in bringing photo radar back. The city wants the province to provide the option of photo radar to BC communities who want to use it. They also discussed establishing the framework for the legal sale of cannabis.
WestJet says it will start selling tickets on its new no-frills airline early next year. It is called Swoop, and expects to begin flying in the summer and fares should be about 40% cheaper than current rates. And with a hot pink Livery, the aircraft should be easy to spot. Routes have yet to be determined.
