Amazing story online this week about a pair of newlyweds who wouldn’t be if not for a fateful phone call. Huffington Post
Long story short, they had met briefly as kids, he’d always remembered her but they’d fallen out of touch. As a result of everything that he was going through, this high school senior was about to commit suicide. He was seconds away from doing so in fact, when his phone rang.
He said he couldn’t die without knowing who was calling so he picked up his phone.
It was her.
She said she felt like she “just had to” call him right then. After not having talked for a year.
That’s serious goosebump stuff.
10 years later they’re now married. Incredible. (photo: via IG pasagraphy)
Two takeaways from this for me… First, if you’re struggling find someone to talk to. Anyone. As he says in the article just verbalizing what you’re thinking can help you realize that that’s not the way out. Second, always listen to ‘that voice’… that little instinct that urges you to act on something. If she hadn’t, this story would have had a much different – and very tragic – ending.
Have you ever made – or received – an impeccably timed phone call? Let me know in the comments.
