It’s election day in BC. Polls are open from 8am to 8pm if you didn’t get to an advance poll. You can vote if you are a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old and a BC resident for the past 6 months. Your voter card will tell you the ID you need to take – basically something issued by the BC government with a photo, and where to cast your ballot. April was a huge month for new housing starts in Kelowna. There were a total of 403 compared to just 92 a year ago. Of that, 261 were apartment or condos. Canada Mortgage and Housing adds that the average price for a single detached home was 900-Grand… up from 742 in just January.
There’a a new Executive Director for the 1,350-member Kelowna Chamber of Commerce. Dan Rogers begins the job in early June, taking up a new challenge within what he calls “the Chamber Network.” Rogers has been in charge of the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce since 2014.
Kelowna RCMP are asking the public for help in identifying a potential suspect in the robbery of a Subway on Springfield on April 30 about 930pm. Police say the suspect took cash and showed a knife when confronted by an employee. Below is an RCMP supplied surveillance shot of the suspect.
A motorcyclist ended up in hospital Sunday night after witnesses say he pulled out in front of a bus at Springfield and Hollywood South, and was hit. Police have not yet ruled out alcohol as a potential contributing factor on the motorcyclist’s part.
