Mission Escapee Found
A Kelowna man serving a life sentence for strangling a teenage girl to death in Merritt 16 years ago has been captured and is back in custody.
53-year-old Robert Dezwaan was reported missing after an inmate count at the minimum security unit on Friday afternoon.
He was arrested by Fraser Valley RCMP around 11:15am Saturday.
Dezwaan is serving a life sentence with no chance of parole for 15 years after being convicted of second degree murder.
Dirt Biker Died
RCMP and the Coroners Service are investigating after a dirt biker was found dead in the Bear Creek area Friday.
Central Okanagan Search and Rescue were called out to help with the recovery.

June Springs Fire
Kelowna fire crews got a Saturday morning callout to June Springs Road.
The fire was a fully involved vacant building in the 44 hundred block.
There were no injuries and firefighters prevented the spread of the morning burn to nearby property.
Very early Friday morning, Kelowna fire fighters were called out to Gertsmar Road.
There was a burn coming from the rear deck of a multi family building in the 100 block around 2am.
The fire did extend to the second story…almost to the attic.
One many was check for burns and kids for smoke inhalation.
No one was taken to hospital.
Glenmore Landfill Construction
Expect delays tomorrow at the entrance to the Glenmore Landfill tomorrow.
The two inside scales will be closed and all traffic diverted to outside scales.
Construction includes the installation of new electronic signage to improve communication and safety.
Work should be done by this Friday.
