What a weird morning for those in Mexico…first off they’re on the target list for anyone having been there in the past 2+ weeks as this whole Swine Flu situation heats up around the world…and now there’s been an earthquake in Mexico.

News reports from Mexico on the earthquake, show many people wearing masks as they crowd into the streets to get out of swaying buildings.

The Swine Flu has killed 149 people in Mexico as of 10am this morning, and sickened close to 2 thousand.

Since this morning, the number of people confirmed with the respiratory illness in the states has gone from 20 to 40.

There are 6 confirmed cases in Canada, including 4 students in Nova Scotia and 2 in BC’s Lower Mainland.  All the Canadian cases are being called mild.  Many countries are now suggesting their people don’t travel to Mexico unless absolutely necessary.

The biggest prevention seems to be washing hands.

And now and earthquake???

The 5.8 magnitude quake was centred near Chilpancingo, 210 kilometres southwest of Mexico City or 80 kilometres from the resort of Acapulco.  There are no reports of damage or injuries so far.

What a weird morning!

Saw Monster Versus Aliens 3-D this weekend at the Grand 10.  What a great movie for big and little kids!   Our 6 year old loved and and as is usual in most kids movies these days…some of the humour is completely over their heads…so the parents get a laugh too!

Had a couple of days of riding on the weekend…would still like to see the temperatures a little warmer.  We’re got a contest running for the next few weeks.  You could win a motorcycle training course from the Kelowna and District Safety Council.  We qualify people in the morning show and do the grand prize draw May 11th.

The forecasted high for the day is 10 degrees and we’re supposed to go down to minus 3 tonight with frost.

The norms for this time of the year, according to Environment Canada, is a high of 16 and a low of 5.

I take this moment to bitch because this ain’t riding weather!  WWWAAAAHHHHH!!!

In the next 2 months, the mornings become more and more spectacular because it gets so much more lighter earlier.

I drive to work between 3:30 and 4am…and sometimes those pink sky mornings are just the thing to set me up for a nice day.

I’m looking forward to riding to work on a few of those mornings…and I have to say minus 3 is just not cutting in…I’ll freeze my *&#^% off!

Found a cool new gal/website this morning on Twitter.  She’s following us (www.twitter.com/power104) on Twitter so I checked out her website too.  www.motojewel.com  Julie is a motorcross rider who’s had her fair share of spills, has written a screenplay about them and has created a cool logo that’s she’s put on some clothes…and she’s a local gal!!!  Julie, I’m going to go find some of your gear…love the logo and your spirit!!!

Have a great day K-Town and think warm spring thoughts!!!

Here’s a bit of an edge for Earthday!

we-vibe

 If you and your partner are looking for ways to spice up your love life without damaging the environment this Earth Day, consider shopping for green sex toys

It’s a Canadian invention…it’s call the We-Vibe…it’s a lead-free, phthalate-free, rechargeable sex toy made of medical-grade silicone.

Celebrating its first year of operation this month, the We-Vibe is taking the adult industry by storm, winning international design awards and breaking sales records.

CEO of Standard Innovation Corporation Bruce Murison says they specifically designed the We-Vibe with the environment and consumer safety in mind.

“We care deeply for our environment and have made every possible effort to minimize the manufacturing impact to our planet. We chose silicone because it is safer, lasts longer, has a lower toxicity and is extremely durable.”

Murison offers this advice for couples or singles shopping for a green sex toy:

- Look for sex toys made of silicone. Silicone is durable, has no taste or smell, nothing is being released from or absorbed by the material, it has low toxicity and will not support microbial growth. Also nothing will stick to silicone;

- Avoid sex toys made of plastic or rubber that give off any kind of odour - by definition they are out-gasing chemicals;

- Look for rechargeable sex toys to avoid sending disposable batteries to landfills;

- Look for sex toys that are RoHS-certified or WEEE-certified to be free of heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, certain brominated flame retardants, polybrominated biphenyls or polybrominated diphenyl ethers;

- Choose a manufacturer that is carbon-neutral. Any product’s website should have its environmental specifications outlined.

Murison says choosing a sex toy that allows individuals and couples to enjoy their sex more fully, while doing something positive for the environment is a win-win combination for everyone.

“We are very proud of our environmental track record and have worked extremely hard to achieve our status as a carbon-neutral Canadian manufacturer. I would encourage all consumers this Earth Day, and every day, to factor in the environment in all of their buying practices. We manufacture the We-Vibe in accordance with the strictest health and consumer safety guidelines and environmental standards. Please think green - and remember to have fun while doing it.”

WHO KNEW!!!

There…now don’t you feel better about doing your part to save the environment on Earth Day.  he he

Went for a ride yesterday…about a hour and a half.  Despite the clouds, it was actually fairly warm…though I really do need to invest in some fleece lined gloves…instead of just my straight leather…just to keep a little warmer at this time of the year and again in the fall.

This is my bike…

my-bike

She may be little, but I love her!

There’s really nothing like riding…it’s a great way to get out of your head…because I’m just a newby and have to concentrate on what the heck I’m doing…so it’s like my version of meditating.

I usually get home in the early afternoon and I find traffic isn’t too bad on the backroads…but gawd help ya…don’t go anywhere near an elementary school between 2:15 and 3:30.  Sometimes as I’m driving…not riding…I find Mom’s in their giant SUV’s are some of the most aggressive drivers on the highway…in my car, I’m intimidated…on my bike, they scare the heck out of me!

As for my shoulder…I guess I haven’t been in bike riding position for a while.  I’m not sure if it’s nerves causing my shoulders to reach up to my ears…or if it’s using my right hand on the brake and throttle…but my right should blade is killing me.  But it’s a good pain…cause it came from riding my bike!!!

my-boots

I’m wearing my new cowboys boots today…so I can kick Bob’s ass…

So far so good…I find them very comfortable…even wearing them for a long time…and they really make a good dent in Bob’s butt.

Got an interesting news release this morning…from the Strap Doctor…

strap-doc-2

No…it’s not some weird sado-masochistic thing…it’s the cure to what ails 53% of women…bra straps falling off shoulders.

If you’re a guy…feel free to tune out now…if you’re a gal…I’ve ordered some…so I’ll let you know if they work…and they have a promotion on right now…you just pay $3.00 shipping and you get two pair, that are apparently transferable between bras.

Some bras are just fine with me…but others I’m constantly pulling at…and it’s a pain in the shoulder.

Way to go Paula…I’m looking forward to testing out your product and seeing if I can get away from the annoying need to keep tugging at my bra straps.

Enjoy this incredibly beautiful day!
