Well.. it’s here! They teased Saturday that we could expect a new trailer for “Solo: A Star Wars Story”. The prequel/origin/stand-alone franchise that Disney/Lucasfilm is currently developing that has been met with loads of trouble from lost directors to doubts about the lead character.. but we’ll get into that in a second.
CHECK OUT THE TRAILER
Okay.. here’s the thing. IT LOOKS LIKE A GOOD MOVIE! Sure! I gotta say that the characters seem awesome! The Effects are incredible and I’m so excited to see Lando (Donald Glover) in action! Here’s the thing though… I’m not excited about the lead/title character of the film. Han Solo.
This movie has been riddled with issues! First, director due Lord & Miller were fired by Kathleen Kennedy for, basically, not following the script at all and getting Han (Alden Ehrenreich) an acting coach on set, because he wasn’t doing a very good job. In comes Ron Howard to take over directing duties and, supposedly, get everything where it needs to be in the production. After seeing this trailer, I have to say, I’m looking forward to it! But Han Solo (Alden) just doesn’t feel like Han Solo… I’m not saying that I need a Harrison Ford impression, but he doesn’t seem to act, sound or feel anything like the character! It sounds like he’s perpetually chewing food…
If this movie was just an incredible Star Wars action/adventure that WASN’T called “Han Solo”, I think we’d be in for something. But when the title character is the person with the LEAST amount of draw (IMO) then that’s going to be met with some serious issues. Either way, I’ll (we’ll) know for sure on May 25th.
