Because why not?
Lost in space has seen a few different re-inventions over the years. We had the original series that ran in the 1960’s. Then it tried to make a come back with the 1998 movie that starred, none other, than Joey from ‘Friends’. That did about as well as you’d think it would. The Following year, Tim Allan starred in “Galaxy Quest”, the parody film that merged the ideas of Lost in Space with Star Trek and handfulls of other Sci-Fi TV shows & Films. Now it’s 2018 and 19 years is a long enough waiting period before we bring it back! Right?
It looks like it’s keeping true to the 2010-2018 formula of “dark & gritty”. We see Will Robinson and the rest of the family embarking on the mission to find a new Earth. I mean, this trailer doesn’t give me much to go on in the sense of weather or not it will be a good show. I’ve never been a fan of children as main characters in things; not because I hate kids, but I just don’t think they’re good actors. The exception being last years adaptation of “IT”.
It’ll be interesting to see if this show tries anything new or just sticks to the adventure/family dynamic of the originals. I know I heard the robot say “Danger Will Robinson” at the end of the trailer and that better be said once per episode or you’ve destroyed the franchise.
