Chris Cornell may be gone, but his work on behalf of human rights continues.
The late singer is featured in a new celebrity-heavy video PSA for his #KeepThePromise campaign for refugee children in war-torn countries. Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Jennifer Lopez, Ozzy Osbourne, Hugh Jackman, Don Cheadle, Ryan Gosling, Adam Levine, Serj Tankian, Jimmy Fallon and Cornell’s former bandmates Tom Morello and Matt Cameron are just a few of stars who speak in it.
The clip starts with two of Cornell’s children, Toni and Christopher, talking about their dad’s belief that “if we each vow to keep one promise, we can work make the world a better place.” The late Soundgarden and Audioslave singer then appears and pledges to “to fight for “the world’s most vulnerable children.”
Cornell’s Grammy-nominated “The Promise,” from the 2016 movie set around the Armenian genocide, serves as the soundtrack for the video and the campaign. The stars of the film, Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac, appear in the clip shortly after Cornell, who concludes it by saying, “Supporting whatever you’re passionate about, to me that’s what The Promise campaign is.”
