Community Art Grant workshop
The City of Kelowna will host an information workshop on the Community Art Grant Program on Wednesday, May. 10.
Local registered non-profit organizations, as well as professional artists, groups, or collectives of professional practicing artists, interested in applying are invited to attend the free workshop to learn about changes in the 2017 grant guidelines and to receive tips on completing an application.
The development of community art is a collaborative process between a community and artists that involves co-creation of public art. Community art projects can take many forms, be either temporary or permanent and can employ a range of media.
“Participating in the community art projects helps people develop their creativity and provides them with an opportunity to feel connected and inspired by each other and the community around them,” said Caroline Ivey, Cultural Services Coordinator. “By expanding the guidelines this year to allow for direct submissions from artists and artistic groups, we’re excited about the creative ideas and opportunities that will be presented through the grant process.”
The workshop will provide a walk-through of the 2017 Community Art Grant guidelines and application form.
